Alpine w2-5 head unit

Alpine w2-5 head unit

Question... Crutchfield says this head unit wont fit in a 2007 tahoe because it is too deep at 6 7/8. They say i need something around 6 5/8.

So i go and look at Alpine's site and they say it it 6 1/2 deep. Has anyone installed these or know anyone who has? I just a fan of Alpine and want to get this unit

Crutchfield will tell you that pretty much anything won't fit. I'm pretty sure they said an Avic D3 wouldn't fit but amazingly I have one in my Tahoe! You will most likely have to cut away some plastic that serves no purpose and that will clear up some space for the unit.

like jophilpott said they will tell you it doesnt fit because without trimming out some of the excess plastic behind the OEM radio it wont fit, but if you trim it out it you will b ok

i figured a little trimming would solve an 1/8 of an inch problem

It fits with no problem and if done right will look like it was put in at the factory. My brother has it in his and I'll be putting it in mine in the next couple of weeks.
