AM & FM Radio No Reception
Hey Folks,
The radio in my 2007 Tahoe stopped working yesterday and I am hoping to get some advice on how to get it working again. Here is what happened:
This is my wife's ride and she was driving with a cup of coffee on the dash board which then slid toward her and supposedly only spilled on her and the center console - maybe a couple drops splashed elsewhere. So she drove home and parked the truck, came back to it a few minutes later to clean up the spill and the passenger side rear door panel speaker was making a roaring noise intermittently with the truck off and the keys out. About 20 minutes after this happened I came home, it was not making the roaring noise but I went ahead and removed the right rear speaker and didn't use the truck the rest of the afternoon. (In case it is relevant, I replaced the stock speakers with some pioneer speakers less than a year ago. The speaker I removed had two screws stuck to the magnet - guess I missed them when I installed the speaker - not sure if they could cause any trouble.) That evening, I went to take a look at the truck but the battery was completely dead. Any idea why this could have killed the battery? I jumped it and noticed the radio was just static, no reception on any channel, AM or FM, just static. The CD player still works fine. I drove it to work today, no issues with the battery but still no radio. Also, the truck has the basic sound system; no Bose or navigation.
Does this sound like something that could happen from a couple drops of liquid splashing on the front of the radio head unit or is this something to do with the aftermarket speaker? I guess it is a pretty big coincidence for the coffee spill to be unrelated to the subsequent issues. In any case, does anyone have any idea on where I should start this repair and what I need to look for? Should I just get an aftermarket head unit and that should solve it or might I still not have AM/FM if I do not get an underlying problem fixed?
I appreciate your time in reading this and any help you can lend in getting this problem fixed!

I just found this thread, and am not myself real knowledgeable about all this, but from my understanding of other threads I've found, the 2007 Tahoe's (I have one) have a Bose amplifier under the center console, which was used by the factory radio to power the speakers (all of them) and it was designed for the specific Bose speakers that came with the truck. The fronts are something like 2 ohm, with a crossover for the A pillar tweeters, and the backs are like 4 ohm, and there are supposedly some subwoofers under the console. From what I've read you may be having several problems at once. First, the door speaker can totally go out on it's own, usually from moisture getting into the connections at the rear because (in their infinite wisdom/greed) they didn't put any covers over the connections or use waterproof speakers. That wouldn't give you the roaring with the key turned off and removed though.
The screws stuck to the magnet may distort the magnetic field slightly but likely not the cause of the roaring either.
Since it occurred when the coffee was spilled, it may be that the liquid got down to the amplifier and shorted it, which WOULD cause it to possibly create a roaring sound through one speaker with the whole truck shut off. I would have someone check that amplifier first. Hope this helps....
