am i crazy?
I absolutely love my 07 suburban. it is my daily driver and also my toy hauler on the weekend. I have been toying with the idea of making it my toy project car for a while now. originally i was going to pick up a sportier car and go crazy with the hp, all for ****s and giggles of course....not being a racer of ny sorts. but i like to play and build and have stuff no one has.
So onto what I'm looking to do. i have been toying with the notion of ordering a fully dressed crate ls9 and getting it into my burb. I figure its a chevy product going into a chevy product it should be an easy install. i read somewhere the ls9 is a dressed up ls3 which is whats already in the burb.
I know some are gonna say why not just work on current engine? ah not my style....the original has almost 70k on it now,,,,and of course its been in already for the oil eating issue.....supposedly resolved but after my last oil change she was thirsty in less than 1000 miles,,,,,so obviously not.
so i have a notion the engine will fit and almost be very compatible.....but my concern is will the stock tranny be good or do ya think i have to also get the zr1 tranny. the gearing issue has me concerned especially with all the new fast power and the gearing in the burb wasn't really intended for 600 ponies.
I'm open to any thoughts or suggestions.

This swap is wrong for so many reasons. Biggest besides grenading everything in the drivetrain is that Corvettes have trannys in the rear so you'll have to fab an adapter to mount a tranny to a LS9 in a front mount application. Probably have to do new driveshafts too.
Have you checked pricing on a crate LS9? I think it's ~$15K. Then you need an ECM.
Hate to rain on your parade but if you have the money to burn, go for it.
