Default anyone here ever install a newer 2xDIN head unit in a older style truck?

I have a 2002 Suburban with the 1.5DIN opening and I am looking for a better head unit. Considering one of the 07-09 stock head units with the ability to do bluetooth, GPS, Sat radio, etc.

What types of modifications would need to be made? I have heard/ been told that the 04-05 Suburban had a double DIN head unit, so perhaps I can get a newer bezel from a salvage yard and maintain the factory install appearance?

You will have to cut the opening 1/2" larger. Now if there is something in the way then you ll have problems. For instance in most dash set ups the radio is bordered by the ventilation ducts. So it limits what you can do in modifying the space for a larger radio.
