Default Axle Wrap?

Hey, all.....So the problem occures after I come to a quick stop or go a little quick over a speed bump. There is a clunk from the rear of the vehicle when I let off the brakes and the rear sinks back down. I looked under the rear end while rolling the tires with the vehicle in park and saw the drive shaft and housing move up and down. I am pretty sure that should not happen.

I am unable to find much in the way of information on the net and thought I would try here. 1996 Tahoe 2WD. If more info is needed, please let me know.

Duane

Might have someone check your U-joints. Also, take a look at your rear brakes, especially if they are drum brakes, to make sure everything is OK there.

Another thing to check is the leaf spring bushings, old wore out rubber bushings can deform or crack and decay, this can produce some slop.

Thanks for the tips. I am going to put it on a lift this weekend and start poking around.
