Default Back Up Lights

Does any one know whether or not I can install Driving Lights for back up lights and be able to splice them into my reverse lights???

I don't see why not.

I see them all the time on trucks that tow boats.

If you have the trailer wiring, then no hard-wiring required. Just plug the backup lights into the trailer wiring connection and you're all set. In fact, I've seen many vehicles using the "White Night" setup that is designed for exactly that situation.

And how would that work? There is no power wire in the towing harness for the reverse light, only a running, brake, left and right turn signals.

the center pin of the seven-way is reserved for the reverse lamps, or an aux input. but the factory uses it for the reverse

I thought the center pin was power for the electric brakes?

nada 07. you would think the center would be the elec brake or the 12v charge line because itis the largest but its not. The elec brake is the bottom right.

Anyway..... you can use any type of light you would like for back up lamps. KC makes some nice small rectangler lights that are made for back-ups. The one thing you need to be careful with is the extra wattage that you would be applying to the reverse lamp circuit. Most fog or back lamps are 55w which can overheat the factory wire. I highly recommend using a relay and just splice the trigger to the relay from the reverse wire.

Here's a site with diagram and pin layout: http://www.marksrv.com/wiring.htm

My '07 Tahoe came with the 7-pin connector. That's why I mentioned it in the earlier post.

keep in mind that the diagram that haidangwa posted is showing the connection side of the plug, so everything is reversed.
