Here's the story...turned on the Tahoe, instrument read out "Battery Not Charging". Took it to Auto Zone and had them check both the battery and the alternator. Come to find out the alternator (original) was bad. Battery was a little low but they charged it up for me anyways. Replaced the alternator and I'm getting the same read out "Battery Not Charging". I checked the belt and it looks good and tight. The battery volt meter on the dash reads around 10-11 just as it did prior to replacing the alternator. All the terminals and wires look good around the alternator and battery. Any clues as to what the issue can be?

I'd get the new alternator checked. Was it a reman?

do you have a voltmeter? do a quick check at the battery with the engine running, you should have high 13-14v if the alternator is charging

 

I had the same thing happen to me about a month ago with a autozone reman alternator. Had it tested at my local parts store and the alternator was bad(wasn't in pickup a week). I would recomend that you stay away from the autozone reman alternator
