Question blowing fuse when shift to 4x4

My 95 Tahoe keeps blowing the 30 amp fuse in box #24 labeled 4WD. My transfer shifter is on the floor and whenever I change it from 2 high to 4 high or 4 low it blows the fuse and will not engage the 4 wheel drive. Any suggestions on how what's causing it and how to fix? This is my first Tahoe and first 4x4. Love the truck, just trying to make it right.

Thanks

Trace the wires going to the front axle and look for a short.

Sounds to me more like an actuator froze up. On the Independant fron suspension there is an actuator even though you have a floor shifter that puts the front axle into 4x4 if its bad it will blow fuses all day long check that the actuator isnt froze up you should be able to pull it off and connect 2 jumper wires from its pug directly to the battery and see if it moves back and forth if it doesnt thats your problem
