Default On Board Diagnostics symbol is on

My Tahoe was sitting for 1 1/2 days in the extreme cold and now my On Board Diagnostics light has come on. I filled the gas tank at about 8 pm Wednesday night when the temps were around 25 degrees. I started it early Thursday morning to move it and no indicator light was on at that time. The truck sat all day Thursday when the temps were in the teens. Started it up late Thursday using my remote start, and it immediately shut down. Had to use the key to start the truck, and the light came on. I rechecked my gas cap, drove it today and it's still on. I also noticed that my remote start will no longer work. Any clues as to what the problem might be?

Try pulling the DTCs to see if that gives you a clue. Since the remote start doesn't work, there should be a code(s) set.

Remote start is disabled if the Check Engine Light is on. Take it to an auto parts store and they can read the code(s).

Turned out a combination of extreme cold weather and carbon build up caused the check engine light to come on. Remote start will not work when check engine light is on. Had it cleaned out, all is well.
