Default Brake pedal side to side shake- how to fix

Hello all, 03 Tahoe, I am working on the highway vibration that some many seem to have. I think I am getting a handle on it. Might be the tires??? But in the mean time I would like to fix the side to side violent shake of the brake pedal when to car vibrates. When I reach down and move it bake and forth, well it moves back and forth. Seems very sloppy. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a bushing to fix it?

Thanks Kelly

Have you changed the brakes but not the rotors? Resurface or change the rotors?

Not when braking. When driving down the road with out touching the brake pedal when the car vibrates - the brake pedal shakes back and forth (knock, knock, knock, knock) fast and load, As if the brake pedal shaft is warn or brake pedal bushings are warn. I can put my foot next to the pedal to stop it from knock side to side when driving. I was wondering if anyone knows of a fix for this. I can not seem to find and brake pedal replacements or shaft or bushings any were.

Thanks Kelly

If the rotors are warped you would feel it anyway

I think it's about a 3/8" or 1/2" shaft the Petal pivots on.

I'd go to the Hardware Store, buy some thin spring Washers and just shim the slack out of it.

After a good look I ended up tightened the pivot bolt less then 1/4 turn. I looks as if there may have been some type of plastic shim or washer that has worn off. A small piece feel out when looking at it. Any way that fixed it. No more loud shake bake and forth. I guess a small spring washer would have worked too. I also solved the highway shake at 65 and above. One of the tires is bad or something. Put it on the rear and the shake has gone. I am guessing the rear suspension is stronger to stop the wheel hop.

Thanks Kelly
