Default break lights

My 2007 chevy impala break lights stay lit up even when not pushing the breaks. The break light switch has already been changed. What else could be wrong?

Could be a couple things. Socket, switch adjustment. Give a little more input as to when this happened, and anything else that was done.

We have had the car for only about 1 month and it has been an issue the entire time. There were cut wires where the radio was suppose to be, but other than that, i don't know what it could be.

Well, obviously it is a "break" problem

All these years I just assumed it was an old person resting their left foot on the brake pedal lighting these things up, while making it infuriating to follow them.

Default take a brake

there will be a fault code set in the bcm to give you a starting point. getting it read and post the code here.

the brake pedal position switch...unplug the connector to it and see if the lights go off.

the switch is an input to the bcm. the bcm powers all 3 brake lights based on a signal from the switch. Its unlikely that 3 separate circuit has a short to power...either the switch is bad, set up wrong, short to power on the switch or the bcm is nfg.
