I see everyone posting that they are having the same problem, outer door handle breaking. My front passenger and rear driver side outer handles are broke. I'm looking to replace mine on my 2008 Suburban so I came here looking for answers. I know how to get the door panel off, but I was looking for some inside info on how to remove the old handle before I pull the door panel off. Anyone have pictures or hints as to how to do this after I remove my door panel?

I saw that today when I was doing some searching but it still leaves me with a couple questions....

How exactly is the window suppose to be positioned for "service"?

And the Front Side Door Trim Panel and Water Deflector Replacements.....? Are there PDF's for those? Can you post those or send me in the right direction?

I will check for the other documents but "Position the door window as needed for service". means put the window in a position that best works for your needs so you can reach the retaining hardware. Maybe its all the way up, maybe all the way down maybe half or three quarters way.
Do not move the window while you have any tools or bodily appendage with in the door cavity.

The car is out of factory warranty, but it seems to me that they would replace these at no cost on a vehicle that cost $60K new.
I agree, Chevy needs to step up to the plate and take responsiblity for this factory defect. My Tahoe was only a year old when all four door handles came lose. It was still under warrenty and they refused to cover it. Being under warrenty didn't matter. Someone needs to file a complaint with the better business bureau. I haven't fixed them yet because it is over $600.00 to fix all four handles.

This is a lot of work people should not have to be doing. This is a factory defect. My 2007 Tahoe's door handles pulled lose after only one year: all four. This was not covered under warrenty.

in2pro - Thanks for the 2 posts. I think that should help when I go to tackle the replacement of two handles this weekend. I was just a little afraid to take the door panel off and not know where to go from there. But I think with a little tinkering and the instructions you posted I should be able to figure it out. Thanks!
