Question Buying Dilemma - Please help

I’m shopping for a used Suburban/Yukon XL. I have narrowed it down to two; a 2005 and 2007. Trading in a 2006 Trailblazer. Both have leather, sunroof, DVD, and 5.3L engines. Both are under NADA.
<O</O
#1 2005 Yukon XL, 71K Miles, $19900
- Pro: Dealer warrantee on drive train
- Pro: Same monthly payment.
- Con: Taillights are frosted/oxidized. Replace for ~$300 New
- Con: Radio volume **** is worn almost white. Apparently easy fix. ~$20
- Con: Driver’s seat worn but not cracked (yet).
- Con: Older body style. Lower resale???
- Neutral: 4WD. Nice to have but not a requirement.
<O</O
#2 2007 Suburban, 50K Miles, $25000
- Pro: Engine management (better MPG)
- Pro: Newer body style. Higher resale???
- Pro: 2 years newer. Less wear and tear.
- Con: $100 more a month payment. Although we can afford it.
- Con: Driver’s seat scratched as if someone had a screwdriver in the pocket when they sat down.
- Neutral: 2WD. Not a big deal for the 2 days a year I may need it. Less moving parts.
- ??? Dealer warrantee – Don’t know.
<O</O
Am I missing anything in my decision criteria? I'm leaning towards the 2005.

pretty big price difference. I assume you have drove both of them? Personally I like the newer body style a LOT more and it drives much better than the older ones.
- you will get better mileage with the newer engine and the 2WD
- is the Suburban an LT? what options does it have?
- 2007+ has a 5 year 100k warranty on the drivetrain from GM

We paid about $26k for our Tahoe over a year ago with 45k miles and it is fully loaded with every option other than sunroof so unless the 2007 Suburban is fully loaded you should be able to get the price down some

We have driven the 2005 and a different 2007. The one we are looking at is about 2 hours away and we have an appointment tomorrow. Yes, both have fairly identical options and are loaded except for navigation. The major differences are 2WD/4WD, price, and year.

I would get under the engine with a flashlight and look for oil leaks. That could be an easy way to get the seller to knock off some $$$.

Test drive and hit the brakes HARD from 50 mph. Make sure the ABS activates properly.

Check the cigarette lighter to see if its ever been used.

Check and compare tire wear. Look for uneven wear.

Make sure the spare tire and tools are all there.

For me it would be an easy choice on the GMC. That year Yukon front end is my favorite of all GM trucks. The 4x4 was also a must for me. Driving the 4x2 felt like a minivan.

Good luck!

$25,000 is a lot for an '07 with 50k miles on it w/o 4x4. Unless it is fully loaded and even then I think it's overpriced. I paid $30k for an '09 LT 4x one year ago this week and got the GM certified car warranty as well since the 'burb already had 38k miles on it (thanks to CS rep Jeff ).

I actually chose the 2005 Yukon. It had all the options my wife wanted and was less money per month. I think (and hope) I made the right decision.

Thanks for the help.
