Needing someone to shed some light. . .
I am looking for some answers about my 2003 model Suburban. We bought the vehicle about 4 years ago, from the time we bought it, it has leaked coolant, we finally found someone that has for the most part fixed that issue. Secondly, my husbands speedometer went out on his 2003 model Silverado. Shortly thereafter mine went out. The gas gauge gets below a 1/4 of a tank and if you cut it off it will not restart without putting more gas in it. It has always made this knocking noise when you turn the wheel sharp. "Mechanic can not find the issue". And our newest issue, the passenger door ajar light is now on all the time, dinging and the dome lights stay on. (Its not ajar). Is this a lemon year? Can someone point me in the right direction to fixing some of these problems or tell me what to expect next?
Thank you in advance for your time.

1)OK, first off your Silverado problem will most likely be a speedometer sensor out.
2) Your Tahoe may have the same issue with the speed sensor, but it could be a ground issue causing the electrical problems.
3)Do you park on an incline or a decline? In other words, is your house on a hill? This may be causing your fuel to be below the efficient level for the fuel pump pickup tube to get the fuel and pump it to the engine. However this usually causes the engine to shutter and run rough for a bit before it dies and will not run again. This causes me to refer back to my earlier thought of a ground wire issue.
4)Is your Tahoe a 4WD or AWD? These vehicles are built with 2WD as a base model, as a result, this can hide the fact that your front CV axle maybe out which normally creates a clunking or "knocking" noise when you are turning the front wheels. Being driven as a two wheel drive enables the vehicle to still be driven.
5)OK. Your dome light, dinging, ajar light issues are most likely a faulty door jam switch. However, his can also be a ground wire issue which only solidifies my above mentioned opinions. The only concern from here is the fact that these are all on different circuits in your electrical system.
If you are local to me here in N. Texas I will look at this for you, but if not, then this is as close as I can get with out putting my hands on it.
Some of your issues may be related to each other or completely coincidental. It is hard to say either way but this is where I would start to look for THESE specific problems.
Hope it helps.
