Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

I really appreciate all of the replies. They have been helpful. I plan to make a decision Tuesday and hopefully trade in my 2006 Chevy Tahoe that same day. I have been working on a deal for a 2012 Ford Expedition Limited and a 2013 Chevy Tahoe LT Texas Edition so I have both vehicles covered when a decision is made.

From researching the Expeditions have had some paint bubbling issues when I asked one dealer about this he simply replied with a "we offer an extended paint protection plan" my response was "why would I need to pay for an extended paint protection plan?" Guy never did give me a direct answer (must be a politician) ha ha

As for the Tahoe I was concerned with oil consumption after reading on this forum, however the lady at the Chevy dealership told me that was only happening in the 07-09 models??? Does that sound about right?

My wife is leaning towards change (Expedition) because she really likes the inside of the Expedition and the automatic folding of the 3rd row, not to mention more space in the 3rd row and I am leaning towards old faithful (Chevy) because I already know they can handle the high mileage we plan to put on either vehicle and I think the outside of a Chevy Tahoe Texas Edition is sexy...ha ha

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be great. I don't plan to finalize anything until Tuesday.

Rule #1: When the wife isn't happy, nobody's happy.

Here's something about Expeditions.

I agree about the 3rd row seat folding flush. IIRC the 2nd row is flat also. The Tahoe's seatless floor is a mess.

I am going to offer a true story regarding ford expeditions.

First a co worker bought an expedition and the paint did bubble up. They fixed it but it did happen.

Second. I used to drive ford crown Victoria for work.
The local dealership took such good care of me, I was leaning towards switching to an expedition. I talked it over with one of the service manager and he pointed out to me that of all the workers that drove into work, only the manager (part owner) drove a new explorer. NO ONE else drove a ford. He pointed out the paint, he pointed out service problems, part availability, etc.
Well a little while later we got a new explorer at work. That truck was in the shop more often than not. Getting parts was a bitch.

That's my ford story.

I really appreciate the story. Stuff like this is good to know so I can use it to argue my point about the Chevy ha ha

Not sure if you already pulled the trigger but if you are looking for more room why not move to a Suburban?

The space between the 2nd row and 3rd row are the same in the Tahoe and Suburban. Tahoe is easier for the wifey to get around town with compared to a Suburban.

After weeks of looking around and negotiating I found this one about 2 hours away from where we live. Looking at $41,000 with TTL. It's a (new) 2012 LT Texas Edition. I am happy with the deal and monthly payments hopefully once I drive down there later today they will go down a little more. Wish me luck this evening..ha ha
