Default A/C Dash Button Malfunction - 01 Sub

Just replaced the compressor on my 2001 Suburban - Now the A/C switch does not work. When the button is pressed the A/C does not disengage. The only way to turn off the A/C is by turning off the fan. Does anyone have a recomendation for this problem? Thanks.
