Looking to purchase a 9 passenger Suburban, but they are a bit of a unicorn in the car world. Does anyone know if I purchase a 2012-2014 Suburban with 8 passenger capacity if it is possible to remove the center console between the drivers and passenger seats and replace it with a split seat?

From my research, the console in Suburbans up to the 2014 model is not directly tied into the dash and looks as if it could be removed without much trouble. My curiosity is with what is underneath the console and if it is equipped to accept the split seat option. Any advice or direction would be much appreciated!

One concern would be the controls on the rear of the center console.

 

you would have to check with the dealer and see if there is a provision and procedure from the manufacturer for mounting a center seat belt anchor. If not, its a no go.
