Can anyone help me with the actual max height of a 4wd Tahoe?
So, I have a very low garage door in my cellar garage and am looking to buy a new Tahoe 4wd. I have looked at the specs online and see the max height listed as 76.9. Now, I have a family member with an Avalanche that just fits. The Avalanche is listed as having a max height of 76.6 but when we put a strip of wood across the racks and measured it, it actually maxed out at 74" and down to about 73" in the center of the roof. Can anyone tell me if the specs on the Chevy web site are off on the Tahoe like they are on the Avalanche? I'm looking to find the max height at both the roof rails and in the center. Just trying to avoid a trip to the dealer with my measuring tape and a piece of 1X3. Any help would be appreciated!!
Parking in Hahneman University Hospital's 15th Street garage, in Center City Philadelphia, allowed for a maximum height of 6'-6". I had my LTZ in there two weeks ago and I ducked my head (lot of good that would have done my Tahoe were it too tall for the building) all the way up to level 10. Several times I stopped to check clearances for the roof rack crossmembers and observed up to two inches of daylight to spare. I'd not trust any such garages where the advertised clearance is under 6'-6"; just an FYI to fellow Tahoe owner/drivers.
