Can you change the Cig lighter power adapters to only come on when the car is ON?

I have a GPS and it would be great if it turned on/off with the car. Both the CL and the accessory adapter are in an ALWAYS ON mode. Any idea?

Greetings NTS, welcome to the Forum.

You could move one of the Power Adapters over to the Accessory Line of your Ignition, HOWEVER... You should be careful what you plug into it !
The Accessory Circuit of the Ignition is usually at or near the limit of it's capability for ampacity. The GPS will probably not overload it, but, should something else (heavy amp draw) be used on that Circuit, you could cause some damage to the wire or excessive Fuse blowing.

Another avenue, which may be considered an overkill would be...
If you were to put a fairly heavy duty Relay in Circuit with the Outlet, and add the Coil of the Relay to the Accessory Circuit.

Also, you could come off of one of the Accessory Lines of the Ignition, add a dedicated Plug for the GPS, and use it that way.
