Default Check Eng Oil Level

2000 Tahoe LS 5.3L 4x4 68k miles.

Yesterday it gave the "Check Eng Oil Level" message and has yet to go off. I did check the level both warm and cold and its fine. I am due for an oil change so I am getting that message too but was wondering if anybody had any suggestions on the oil level message?

THat's a new one on me. I had my 00 Suburban give me that message once. I was about 5000 since my last oil change when the message came on. I checked my oil and was about a quart low. After adding a quart, the message went away. The next day I changed my oil.

After a trip down the highway and restart at the end of the day, the message is no longer there. My only guess as to what caused it in the first place is that the truck sat on a downhill driveway for over a week. Seems ok now.
