Check Engine Evap Issue

Check Engine Evap Issue
We have a 2007 suburban, and the check engine light keeps coming back on. I pulled into the local dealership today to have them check the code. It's an evap issue. They said it would range anywhere from $400 to $700 to have it turned off/fixed. They also said it won't hurt to leave the light on. My issue is, I miss my remote start!!!!! I don't care that the light is on for this issue, but I'd really like the remote start to work. My question is, is there a way to bypass the evap issue so that the light can be triggered to stay off on that issue so we can have the remote start???
Make sense?

Candice, it is more than likely the evap solenoid. Go to auto zone and get the code from them. Look it up on utube and you will find its a common problem. With the new solenoid harness and plug including a new gas cap ordered form Amazon the price is less than $80. it takes about 20 min to change including dropping the spare tire to get out of the way. You are correct if you take it in it is $500 plus. Good luck. Hopefully you can find someone to help you with this minor repair
