Default Check engine oil message

I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado 5.3 vortex engine. The Check engine oil light is flashing on the message center. I have checked the oil level frequently and it is fine.
What else can cause this problem? And where is the sensor located at that is associated with this issue?

i think the sensor is located at the bottom of the oil pan. i guess it could be crudded up causing a false reading but ive never experienced this issue.

Does your truck have an oil pressure gauge, and what's its reading, and is that steady while cruising or all over the place?

Your oil pressure sensor and filter are located on the firewall drivers side of the motor, near the intake manifold . It is not easy to get to without removing the intake manifold but it can be done without that. I am hoping that the o-ring on your oil pickup tube is has not gone bad as this too will drop your oil pressure and can damage the engine.
