If it worked "correctly", I think AFM is a good solution.
Improved MPG when you don't need the power, and V8 when you do. Variable Displacement Engine... it's an excellent solution, within the parameters of an engine.
Sadly, for reasons I assume are AFM related, my Tahoe burns oil! so... save gas.. burn oil...? There is a TSB/Fix but it's WAYYY more expensive than just adding a quart between oil changes.
