Question Chevrolet Suburban reliability

Hi guys,

I am looking for buying a Suburban LT/LTZ ( 2009 to 2014 ) I read a lot about its history and i love this big SUV but, i never really find some reliability review.

Am sure it's a really good vehicle but, i want to know your opinion.

Thank's

That's so perfect

Our 93 has 340k with one tranny replacement, our 05 just over 200k with no major disasters so far. Subs work for my family!

I have to admit my confidence is a bit shaken in the 07+ half-ton Suburbans. Googling "5.3 AFM" is all you need to do.

If you want a truly bulletproof truck, look at the Suburban 2500 trucks. Better brakes, better transmission, better engine (with no AFM), better rear end (10.5" full floater), yet all the goodies if you can find one with the 3LT trim.

Downside is poor gas mileage - mine gets 12-13 around town, and 15-16 on the highway.

I'll probably be buying a second one for my daughter this summer.

I would look at 2011 or newer. 2007-2009 had issues with the Afm system and oil consumption. My 2011 3/4 ton with the 6.0 has been rock solid. The only issue I had was with the throttle position sensor wich is a known issue and Gm has extended the power train warranty to 125,000 mile because of it. The truck pulls 4 wheelers and a side by side with no problem also a boat weighing about 5,000lbs. We fit a family of four soon to be 5 two dogs and gear in it with no problem.

Yeah 6.0 is a good option but, here in Canada it's rare

If the AFM issues were resolved early (lifters and cam replacement) then the 07/08's are fine. I had the lifter/cam issue and replacement when it was at 35k miles. I now have over 174k on my 07 Tahoe and its been one of the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned. It's all about the maintenance. And I'm meticulous....
