Chevry Suburban 2500 and water
Hi,
I'm writing from Poland. I've bought an Chevy Suburban 2500 (This one with wheels with 8 screws) 6.0 LT and i have a problem. I have to drive my car into the water, and my question is, how deep can i drive it, aprox. 50 cm? Less or more?

Welcome to the forum.
I've never seen any info on this or noticed if the various gear boxes have extended vent tubes. I wouldn't go in anything deeper than just below the floorpan. Any deeper and you start to become a bad boat.

x2. not without modification anyhow... what makes you cross water so much?
:chug:
Boat which i must put somehow into the water, i have to drive into the water becasue it isn't deep enough for boat to slip from the trailer. In Poland, at lakes, we don't have any places made from concreat to slip boats, like you have in US, they are only sea marinas. The boat needs 50cm to float, so there should be aprox. 70cm to slip it well.
So, just to the floor (Floorpan means floor underneath the car?)... Won't the water damage any engine or wheeldrive parts then? How long can i stay in the water?
PS. Slip, i think, is put into the water, am i wright?

It's the third time i'm going to "fight" with te boat, but the first one i have to drive into te water. But i still have to put something under the wheels, like small woods, cause it won't go without it with the boat on a trailer, or even with just trailer. It's all to heavy (Boat is 3500kg, an trailer 800kg) and it sinks in the sand... I've thought about wheel chains, but tell me, if i have 245/75/R16 can i put them on all 4 whels? Or only at front axle? I have only two days to think about some help with climbing out of the water with trailer and boat on it. And one more question, i always have used wheeldrive 4 LOW, was it a good decision? Or better use 4 HIGH?
But, i must say, Suburban pulls it very, very good. Better than jeep commander, which i've had one seazon. The trailer made the rear axle go up when "slipping" (I still can't find any word for putting into the water) boat, and the axle got OFF THE GROUND! Yes, that was Jeep... I was surprised and frightened at once... But Suburban... Is heaven

Ok, thanks. In Poland, there is a word "slipping" which means launching the boat, i thougnt it was taken from eng.

Also it's a good idea to disconnect the trailer lites before backing into the water but you probably already know that.
