That price seems a little high. Google GM protection plan. Major guard is the one you want with zero deductible. Sometimes you can deal with the warranty people directly.

Is it your 3/36 that's about to expire or your powertrain 5/100?
My 3 year/36,000 has expired. I found a dealer that will do an Ally Major Guard warranty for $1350. It covers another 3 years or 36k. 18 payments/ 0% interest. Not bad.

the powertrain and emissions warranties cover more than a lot of people expect. I don't know 100% of the details on the extended warranties but most major stuff would be covered by powertrain as long as you do all the maintenance like you should

I'm not normally an extended warranty type of guy but Tahoe's can be expensive to fix and I've not had the best of luck with mine since new.
I'm looking around for an extended warranty plan and came across this dealer: https://www.knappvehicleservicecontracts.com/

They have decent reviews, so I'm going to reach out to them. Does anyone have any experience with them or similar dealers?

The owner of a local ASE independent shop (4 decades) who does a local weekly radio program deals with the warranty companies all the time, and hates them. Many require use of parts supplied by them so time and maybe a lift is wasted, they try to weasel out of stuff for inane reasons. He says if folks pay such money to him directly, he'd do everything at no cost and make a fair amount of money.

He recommends putting such money into a separate account, and you'll usually come out ahead. Consumers Reports also says don't do extended warranties on anything.

+1
oem manufacturers do mean time to failure analysis on every component and then set the warranty time under that number. you are betting on your car to fail but the odds are already stacked against you.
if you must buy an extended warranty...only buy a plan from gm. do not let the dealer or anyone sell you a plan from a 3rd party.

So you're saying that GM ensures that the factory warranty runs out before most components fail?

If that were true, then almost nothing would fail during warranty.

there will always be outliers from the mean.
they don't set the warranty timeline or mileage number arbitrarily.
