Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Default Chevy, there has to be an easy SW update to fix this. No root menu for USB Video!?!?

2018 Suburban w/ rear seat entertainment

I hope that I am doing something wrong and someone can point out what I'm doing wrong, but I've tried a lot of different configurations and can't find a suitable solution.

If you want to play video in the rear screens of the vehicle, you have 3 options
  1. DVD/BD drive from the front console - I can't be the only one who has shifted away from discs in favor of digital formats
  2. HDMI input in the 2nd row - Pretty cumbersome to connect a video player or tablet via dongle to play video
  3. 2x USB inputs in the 2nd row - The simple easy solution for digital video file playback
Option 3 is great except that there is no way to view a root menu or file names of the videos you want to play. When USB1 or USB2 is selected from the video menu the files just start playing alphabetically, with no display indication of what file is playing. It isn't a big deal with just a couple of movies on a drive, you can skip to the next file, and wait for the intro to load to see if it is the move you want. But the real benefit of USB should be having 40 kids movies on a USB stick. Unfortunately it is crazy cumbersome to try to select the movie you want with no root menu or at least displaying the file name as an overlay.

What is interesting is that if the same USB drive is plugged into one of the front seat USBs, you can browse the root menu, and see the video files. But, you can't play video from the front USB ports, so even though you can see the file structure, you can't select anything to play.

Chevy, this has to be a pretty simple programming/SW update:
- Ideally, provide the same root menu view on the rear video USB ports
- Minimally, at least display the video filename as a video overlay for 5-10 seconds so you can know what movie you've selected.

Thanks
