Default Climatic control motor hunting

Hello, Just signed up last night looking for an answer. I purchased a 2009 suburban LTZ. When I set down in the drivers seat, before I insert the key, I can hear a little motor searching for a happy spot to adjust to. This sounds like it is coming from the climate controls but also could be something with the navigation sys. I believe it is doing this searching all the time. Could sure use some help before I find some morning that my battery is dead.

I have it too in my 08. Never bothered to really diagnose it, since it only happens when a door is opened. My guess is the nav dvd precaching some data. I wouldn't worry about it.

If it really bothers you, eject the nav disc, and see if the noise goes away. I'd try it on mine, but it's at school with my daughter.

boat hauler: Welcome to the forum.

It is the Nav DVD spinning up to be ready by the time you need it.

Default Almost hit the nail on the head

You all were right in that is was a DVD causing the noise. Only it wasn't the navigation one, it was the regular one above the radio. I pushed the eject button and it hasn't made noise since. There was no disk in it, I guess it just wanted to be noticed.
Thanks. John
