I had a single clunk when accelerating and it turned out to be a broken engine mount. The clunk must have been the engine moving when I accelerated.

My '03 Tahoe does the same thing. I always thought it was the trans until I did some research and saw that others had the same problem and temporarily fixed it like you said. I have yet to do anything about it.

Yup, had three suburband in the last 18 years, a 93, and two 99's, all had the same issue. At the time I was told it was my transfer case., if I knew it was just a can of grease I would have done it myself. 😁 Lesson learned. Check out reviews before I check out a mechanic 😱 thanks for all the info on this website, this girly girl learned a lot ...👍 Thank you 💜

The clunking is a dry slip yoke, need to remove the from drive shaft yoke and lubricate the spline shaft with the proper lube that is comparable with transmission fluid..

Talking 2002 Tahoe 150k mi. - Clunking SOLVED!!!!!

For about a week. I had beed driving the Tahoe around with a Mysterious Clunk, bang, blat, ding noise. Sounded like cheap tin banging away.

This happened sporadically - didn't matter if I was: turning or not; accelerating or not; hitting bumps or not.

I checked youtube.com and all the forums for this issue.

I changed out front hub bearing asssemblies; and u-joints first with stock AC Delco's... Noise remained so I upgraded the u-joints to Moog's. Noise remained.

All this time the noise seemed to be coming from front left. Not being able to figure this out - I purchased wireless chasis ears for $270 from amazon.com. It just got here today.

But yesterday I took my kid to her concert at school and invited an aunt. Aunt was sitting in the middle rear seat to separate my kids from fighting (ages 8 and 10)...

Aunt said the sound she was hearing sounded like left; middle to rear of vehicle.

Long story short.... It turned out to be left parking brake pad lining come apart. Ordered replacements yesterday they got in today. My Sunday will be tied up with swapping in new parking brake "pads"..

Left rear axle bearing is going out also - I guess I'll swap out both rear bearings and seals as well.

Of all the threads and videos I visited - no one has mentioned Parking brake pad lining breaking apart from its "carrier" and banging in the Drum....

If your truck has original parking brake pads and is over 15 years old - you may want to check to see if this is your Clank / Bang Mystery Gremlin..

Good Luck to all.

Hopefully someone can help me on here... my 2011 Tahoe LTZ has had this problem appear in the last 2 days.. the clunk only occurs with heavy acceleration from stop so it's only happened 3 times so far. Everything I'm reading is talking about these slip yokes but a coworker told me it sounds more like a broken sway bar link? Anyone know about that?

Absolutely it could be the sway bar links, have you gotten under the vehicle to look and inspect the links? check out this thread also https://chevroletforum.com/forum/tah...-2007-a-74732/

Have checked the motor mount? 07-14 have gel motor mounts that come apart often (usually the left one).

Yes this is exactly what it ended up being. Left motor mount had completely broken off and the engine was hitting the hood with too much gas. Had both sides and tranny mount replaced. Fun stuff
