Thanks guys! Finally got the purge canister installed and the engine light went out. The old one was cracked on one side and red sludge was seeping out. Looked like rust. The information this forum provided helped get this issue solved. The removal of the spare was the hard part. Got a French owners manual when I bought the truck. I went back to exchange it but they wanted $. So I tossed it and looked up things on my phone. Thanks again and now on to a tune-up, 2007 Chevy Tahoe 5.3 V8 Flex LT1.

The Cannister vent solenoid. It came with harness attached. The new air intake is twice the size of old one. Was told to put it as high up as possible under the chassis I put it were the old one was. I went to the Chevrolet parts department. I first went to AutoZone then to O'Reillys but the parts they had was not what I was physically seeing. So to Chevy I went. It was right.

Part # 23481275 / Vent
Part # 19257603 / Harness

that makes more sense; I couldn't figure out what a purge canister is. the vent solenoid hose and filter is now recommended to be routed on top of the transmission housing.

Just an FYI, the CEL will not go off by itself. You need to clear the codes. If you don't have a scanner, you can disconnect the battery for 30 seconds and that will clear the codes. You have to drive it for a while, local and parkway. It also needs to have the engine cool off. If it's cold out, a few hours. Hot, I would let it go overnight.
