Default codes are keeping me stumped ! wtf !

PO340 - Cam Position Sensor ( A ) circuit ( Bank 1 Sensor )

P1345 - SGC ( cam position ) Sensor Malfunction / Crank-cam Pos correlation

Anyone know why my 99 5.7 Hoe is throwing these codes.... ?
I replaced the distributor gear thinking that may be the issue but no dice.
My truck is jerking and missing like crazy.

Thanks ahead of time

The code P0340 indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor circuit. Since it says circuit, that means the problem could lie in any part of the circuit - the sensor itself, the wiring, or the PCM. A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened: a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken, the camshaft position sensor may have failed, the PCM may have failed, there exists an open circuit, the crankshaft position sensor may have failed.
Here are some things to try:
i) Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit,
ii) Check for continuity in the circuit wiring,
iii) Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor,
iv) Replace the camshaft position sensor as required,
v) Check the crankshaft position circuit as well, Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required,
vi) Diagnose/replace the PCM as required.

The code P1345 regards correlation between the the cam position sensor and the crank position sensor. Here are some things to check for that could possibly cause for this problem. Check the following items:
i) A loose CMP sensor causing a variance in the sensor signal,
ii) Excessive free play in the timing chain and gear assembly,
iii) Incorrectly installed distributor - 1 tooth off in either advance or retard positions,
iv) A loose distributor rotor on the distributor shaft,
v) A loose or missing distributor hold down bolt. Hope this helps.

Thanks Jeff !!!! I hope the timing chain & gear assembly isn't the issue.
Really detailed response. More than I hoped for thanks again !

Default stutter steppin

yeah got the codes to clear but the damm thing is still stutterin all over the place.

checked the compression and it was okay. the driver side guage wasn't holding the pressure in the guage after I shut it down .... making me think there is a gasket leak on that side.... ( also the obd2 continious monitor was saying the fuel mixtures on that side were fried and way off )

anyone know of a good DIY thread for the lower intake manifold gasket ?
is the lower intake the same as the head gasket ? i know i'm an idiot.

plugs were wet and the oil is def. runny like it's got antifreeze in it...

thanx ~!!!!!
