Colapsed lifter for DOD
I have spent about 90% of the day researching this topic. I just want to get some responses back. I have the heads off right now at the machine shop just cleaning things up. I also have a friend of mine Deleting the DOD out of the computer. I plan on Soaking the New lifters when i get my 500.00 kit with everything I need like gaskets and New lifters. But my question is this. How many of you have had the same problem with a collapsed lifter? Wouldn't you think that Chevy should have recalled this problem? My engine is the l75 6.0 Vortec. if you have replaced the lifters and Tuned out the Dod how does it run? Can you tell a big difference?
I haven't heard of anyone having this happen to the 6.0L I have 293,000 miles on my 2007 5.3L Suburban and have never had any issues with lifters. I'm a believer in only running fully synthetic motor oil in all my vehicles. Maybe that's the difference.
Your MPGs will go down a bit bit. You won't get the vibration when in 4 cylinder mode under load anymore. If you're burning oil due to clogged up oil control rings, you'll still continue to burn oil.

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it I have only ran Synthetic motor oil in my engine as well. But i do believe it was pushed kind of hard from previous owner. From hauling trailers and all. But that might be an issue one wear and tear.
dodge and gm both use dod/active cylinder management. collapsed lifters do occur for both brands...its not a design problem...mechanical parts fail....more often due to extended oil life intervals imo. there is no way to may a dod lifter as trouble free as a regular hydraulic or solid lifter. its more complicated so more chance to fail.
