Is this corrosion normal on a 2012?
I'm considering buying a 2012 Yukon XL 2500 (twin to the Suburban 2500). The inspector noticed some corrosion on the underside of the hood, on the alternator, and a broken ground strap. Pictures attached. Are these issues typical for this age vehicle? Or should I be wary?
If you're from the rustbelt, that's nothing unusual or that bad at this point for a 6 year old truck. I would have it cleaned up at an autobody shop while it's still early and then maybe Fluid Film it yearly. Where are you from?

Well, my truck is four years older, also a 2500, has spent its entire life in the heart of the rust belt (Indiana and Michigan), and it looks like this...I would be wary.

Notice the ridiculous amout of salt residue underhood....and lack of rust....
