cracking sound in radio/navi
I have a 2007 LTZ with factory bose/navi/dvd. On long trips I have sometimes a VERY LOUD cracking sound as if somebody disconnects and reconnects and amplifier, loud static sound. Eveything works fine just makes the short cracking sound, not like some of the other problems I have read here where people loose control functions...
Anybody aware of this issue? Dealer looked at me clueless.
Thanks

One thing to check is:
Remove the drink holder in the center console and unplug the black/blue amp wire harness, inspect the bare metal drain wires and make sure that they aren't coming into contact with any other terminal then tape the slack back using electrcial tape and a spot-tie.
2- minute job.

ZX, I know this post is old, but what do you mean when you say "bare metal drain wires"?? Are you talking the "socket" side of the connector, the "pin" side of the connector, the "cups" that the wires are soldered into, or something totally different??

The wires going into the connectors are all color coded with the exception of the drain wire which is just a bare wire with no insulation, when you gain access to the wire connector you will see what I mean.
This bare wires can come into contact with metal objects which can introduce noises into the system.
