Thought I'd spin her around in the snow filled parking lot. Lost traction and the computer wouldn't let me use the gas. Sometimes technology sucks, there goes my winter fun.

On my '07, there's a button that turns off the StabiliTrak. It's at the bottom of the center dash, next to the passenger's side cigarette lighter, samerow as the buttons that adjust the pedals and turn off the backup sensors. Turn it off, put it in 2WD and have at it! Earlier models should have something similar to turn off the system, too, but I have no experience with earlier models.

I have a 2008 silverado and if you press the T/C button it turns of the T/C if you hold it for 5 seconds it turns off both T/C and StabiliTrak or so they say it doesn't really turn off StabiliTrak which is why I am here . The thing made me wreck the other day got my trailer swaying on a country rode so the truck thinks hey lets start slamming on the brakes and jack-knife the trailer....great fun, anyway how the hell do you completely turn it off. I hold the button for 5 seconds and it says everything is off but go to do a doughnut and just to test and still cant????? kills the throttle and hits the brakes i just want to drive the truck not have a computer do it for me.
