Default Directional clicking issue

Hello,

I have a strange issue with my right directional. When I use the left signal everything works as it should. When I use the right Directional it works intermittently. When it doesn't work nothing works at all, not even the dash indicator. I here a clicking noise when this happens and it sounds like it's around the left side of the dash and maybe under the dash. When the clicking happens the Directional works, stops, works, etc. When the clicking stops then it's intermittent if the Directional works at all.

does this sound like anything anyone had dealt with before? Any advice on what / where I should be troubleshooting?

This is a 2004 suburban 1500 LT with all the options from that year.

thanks in advance
steve
