I have to take a 300 mile one way trip and I’m not going to be able to take care of the problem before I hit the road. Is this an emission issue? From what I read here I need to replace the purge valve solenoid Part # 20995472 and the new connector part# 19257603. All located above the spare tire.

Any input would be great.

I'm sorry you are experiencing this issue with your vehicle. Possible causes for the code you have provided are:

- Vacuum leaks, damaged hoses or improper routing
- EVAP system - Check fuel cap, canister, valves or components
- Faulty purge or vent solenoids
- Check connector and wiring
- Fuel saturated vapor canister
- Failed EVAP vent solenoid

I recommend having the vehicle inspected by a certified technician for an official diagnosis.

I have a 2009 Silverado and the check enigine light illuminated. using a friends code reader a P0449 and P0455 code was indicated. The fuel cap is tight. Can someone help? It also said Vent valve. Can someone tell me where the vent valve is located on the 2009? Thanks,
Skillett

i've driven my tahoe with the 0449 code for over 15 k miles. More than likely it's the vent purg valve. chevy has a bad design on the placement of the valve, whereas all the road mess get thrown on it and causes it to fail.. just my .02

crf311 Welcome to the forum...

You are correct, you can drive with the error and it will not cause any problems, however if you are in a state that requires emissions testing for state inspection, it will fail as long as that code is present....
You can clear it prior to inspection but that will also reset other sensor readings that are checked.

depends on who you bought your extended warranty plan from. not all extended warranty plans are the same.
