Any idea why we still can't get the torky 6.6 Litre Duramax V8 (LML) for our Tahoes and Suburbans ? A pity ...

Maybe because I don't want to smell like deisel or have huge black smoke cover everything I tow?

I've seen them on the highway... kids floor their disels and HUGE black smoke everywhere, smells god awful... the more MPG just isn't worth the cost in fuel or the engine...

so... that's why...

And then there're regions where it's really cold - and frozen fuel lines rule the game
Well, never owned a diesel. Was just thinkin' such engine would last longer cos it may be more sturdy ...

They don't blow black smoke all over. it sounds like you don't know about the duramax. If there is black smoke blowing out then the truck is broke or has a big tune on it. The duramax is great. they are not in the burb and hoes do to the market and the fact they can't pull a 5'er. It would be nice for gm to offer it. That would be one heck of a ride.

very little demand in this vehicle. it would be sweet but like LA said most people with that setup want to really tow and use a 5th wheel. also diesel is crap in the cold winters. My boss had to sell his 04 duramax with 800 ftlbs torque because they moved to MN and it is worthless in the crazy winters. get the 6.2 with a SC and this ride will do more than enough as is.
generally diesels do last a long time but they do require work just like any other engine

Great advice, again - thanks so much, Gentlemen.

However, winter oughta be not really my problem here - deep down south.
Still more - all I'll get on the hook is our tiny, good ol' ChrisCraft ...
And since the L92 is my preferred engine, anyway - I'll order my new hoe that way in 2011.

Just for the fun of it

The Duramax is not offered cuz the demand is not enuf, same reason they quit offering the 6.2 in 2010.
