I have a 2003 tahoe z71 with 36,000 miles. recently, the engine light will flash and it seems like the engine loses power/hesitates for a second. Then it goes back to normal. THis has happened at 35, 55, and 65 mph, and without heavy acceleration. Basically, Im just crusing along and then it happens. Alos, the abs light comes on about half the time when i start the car and stays on for about 20 seconds then goes away. and just today the info center said 'service brake system". any ideas what could be causing these problems?

 

Have the dealer or a shop with a scan toold pull the DTC codes from the ECM.

Many auto parts stores will do this for free.

Don't monkey around with brake issues though, get it repaired right away for safety sake.
