Default Factory or aftermarket nav?

Tough finding a OEM '07 GM nav radio right now, anyone put a Pioneer Avic in a '07 yet? Get steering wheel controls, Onstar, and door chimes to continue to work?

I got the OEM nav only because I couldn't find the ltz without nav. (which is really weird)
Anyway, the oem nav is not that great.
I own the alpine and kenwood nav(im my other car), and comparing with GM nav, I would pick aftermarket anyday, and everyday.
I just don't think it's worth the money. It's just my 2 cents.

If you decide to go aftermarket... go to jpcustoms.com I just bought the wiring harness that will keep onstar & chimes, along with the steering wheel controls adapter. Just go to the audio/visual section and look for Onstar or Wiring harnesses

After reading https://chevroletforum.com/m_15129/tm.htm I can't see that a aftermarket AVIC could be any tougher to install and might be a better nav unit? http://www.wired.com/news/culture/re...l?tw=rss.index

JP Customs is on my list of places to call tomorrow

Installs only(usually) happen once so who cares if a certain unit is tough to install. Case in point would be the Kenwood 6019 with G510 nav(which I own in my 07 tahoe). It's navigation unit is a very easy install. It only needs power and the sat receiver. It doesn't contain a speed sensor wire. Since it lacks that anytime I go in a tunnel or underpass it doesn't know if I stopped or not. I would much rather have a tough install with a speed sensor wire for accuracy.

The Kenwood 6019 w/ G510 after awhile will grow on you. I really think now after fighting with it for so long, it's second to none. I love the new Kenwood TV tunner with it's trace style antenna wires. You can barely see the wires on the window.

I would like to checkouta Pioneer unit installed in an 07.

With everything in life, all the units have their pros and cons. Get whatever you like. Just keep in mind that with an aftermarket you can expect that the door chimes and such will not sound like the oem's and some other inconsistencies. Once past that though the aftermarket units are superior to an oem unit.

OK,

Got the D2, got the GMOS-LAN-02, got the SWI-PS:

Where can I find the factory VSS wire to slice into it?

Where is a reverse gear signal input to slice into it?

On the PAC SWI-PS where does the green wire connect to on the factory harness (steering wheel controls)? Is this in the factory radio harness?
