I did that at first! However, once I did it I thought that black looks strange, there really isnt any other black on the front of the vehcile, or on the vehicle hardly at all. SO I thought oh yes, lets paint the entire thing! Wife was like no no! What the hell does the wife know?

Painted it, put it on, and nope. It doesnt look as good as with the black border! Always gotta try for more just to get less! BTW, I didnt tell the wife she was right but I can admit it to you!

Anyone have an extra front bowtie they want to get rid of?

Here is a close-up. I think you can just discern the end of the popsicle stick in the center. For no extra charge, I threw in a pic of a painted resonator for those of us still undecided on exhaust change out. With a black truck, it almost disappears.

I used hi-temp exhaust paint, supposedly good to 1500 degrees F. So far after several months, it's holding up well.

Can you remove the grille and "flex it" into the correct alignment? I hurt my neck looking at the photo. How did you get your truck on it's side anyhow?

Tried a bootlegger turn that went south.

Yes the grill bars are soft enuf to bend. In fact a couple of mine were bent slightly in shipping and had to straighten them.

Did you paint just the resonator or is it just in a shadow?

Painted the resonator body and only a very short portion (1") of tailpipe. I wanted to paint the welded seam. I left the heat shield and tip unpainted.

I took the photos at an angle that really exposed the resonator to show the paint job. From 90% of the angles it "disappears."

I thought about trying to polish the tip since I thought it was stainless steel but it seemed more like aluminized steel as it wouldn't polish, so just painted it.

I used an SOS to remove everything I could. I then used FLITZ to "polish." I need to sand it with varying paper then flitz it. It looks dang good for what it is when I clean it, but I gotta sand to get a real shine.

It wasn't polished for the first time in any photos I have. It looks better now.

Maybe I gave up too soon. I've polished good quality st-st before and you can get a chrome equivalent shine. It just didn't seem like this was going to get there. Might try again next spring. Would really like to change out the muffler and lose the resonator.
