This past Friday my wife and kids were driving out of town to visit her in laws and what do you know I get a phone call saying the check engine light is on. I ask her if it is flashing"No". Does the truck seem to be running rough "No". So my response is ok. I'll check it on Sunday when you return. So on Sunday I head to Advance Auto Parts check the codes and get a code number P0449. A quick google search and I find myself ordering a evap vent canister sylenoid. The Google search told me I needed a flat head screw driver and a 13mm socket. Turned out I did not need either. It is located right behind the bumper. Next to the spare tire. You need to disconnect the white tube connector by pushing down on the top of it and slide it out. Then disconnect the other connection by pushing on the red connectors. Slide out the old sylenoid(looks like a small canister), slide in the new one. I disconnected the battery reconnected and voilą no more check engine. All in all about 10min of labor and a $45 part. The part was cheaper at O'Riellys but Advance was able to get the part in 3 days versus 7 days. While I was under the truck I changed the oil as well Mobil 1 5w30 and a ACDelco PF 48E filter.
