Default Flip Down DVD Player

I just purchased an 04 Tahoe with an aftermarket DVD player installed. The player is brand new and installed I believe from the dealer. The said that the rear air will not work with the DVD player installed because the rear controls were replaced. I had them take more money off of the vehicle for that. The dealer is a Chevrolet dealer as well. I believe the rear air can work using the controls in the front, how can I do so? Thanks!

several companies sell vehicle specific overhead bezels for aftermarket drop down screen, so consumers can still retain rear AC Controls

well, depends what Brand is your drop down DVD.
some companies like Rosen/Audiovox/Mayron&Davis and few others make those bezels for their screens.
if Your DVD is not one of those brands above, then do google search for universal overhead DVD bezels

Do you still have the rear controls, just not connected? I've heard of people removing the trim ring around theheadlinerrear A/c controls, reconnecting them and tucking the rear controls back under the headliner so you can install a flipdown screen. By doing this, you can control the rear A/C from the front. You could also extend the wiring to the rear controls to one of the consoles in the rear,or go an cleaner routeget a Rear Climate Control Reloaction Pod which moves thecontrols out from the center so you can install anyflipdown screen and still have easy access to the controls from the rear. But to be honest, I think the cheap andeasy way would be to just remove the trim ring around the rear controls if you have them and slip the controls back in the head liner if you have enough roomand just control the rear A/C from the front.I assume youdont have digital controls up front and if you dont, make sure you get manual controls for your tahoe.
But I believe thereis a way to jump some of the pins on the connector to it and that wayyou wouldnt have to mess with it.

I hope this helps

Hi,

If you go to a chevy dealer and buy the rear controls and hook them up (providing the wiring is still there), without the rear controls installed, you can't use the rear AC zone even from the front. Who makes the DVD unit? The rear controls can be relocated to allow both the rear air and the DVD to function correctly.

Best of luck.
