Default frame slotting

Took the '95 4X4 burb in for alignment after changing both upper ball joints and the idler arm and frame mount passenger side. The shop told me the toe was just in spec' but the frame needs slotting to get the proper camber(?) several people I've asked have not heard of this. Are they trying to hose me?

They are telling you the truth. If the camber/caster have never been adjusted then the knock out in the frame must be removed.
