Default 05 front plate removal

New owner with tons of questions. hopefully starting with an easy one. How do you remove the front license plat holder? It's held on with some kind of crazy fastener.

Welcome to the forum.

Don't recall if my wife's '04 had one or not when she got it used. Usually they're held w/ screws that go into a plastic retainer that's snapped into the bumper. Doesn't sound like that's what you have tho.

Does your fastener appear to be plastic? If so, you might be able to pry it off w/ a door panel remover.

plastic, kind of looks like a rivit, but doesn't fasten tight. has a hole in the centerof it and when you look into the hole you can see the metal part of a fastener. I need to remove it without screwing anything up because if the bumper is worn from the plate holder it may have to go back on. I am reluctant to start yanking or prying on it.

Try pushing the metal part out using a small pin punch. If it's the type fastener that I think, then you should be able to pull the fastener out.
