Tahoe & Suburban The power, space, and brutal towing ability make the Tahoe and its longer sibling, the Suburban, arguably the best full size SUV's on the market today.

Default Front axle conversion

I'm planning on putting a solid front axle in 96 Suburban and would like to talk with some people who have done it.

I'm planning one for my HD... Depending on how much power your gonna be running, go with a Dana 44. If you plan on wheeling pretty hard, or run some decent Horsepower, go with a Dana 60 from a 78-79 F-250.
Check out this link for a kit, www.offroaddirect.com
Thats where I plan on getting my kit from, you can also check out www.offroadunlimited.com I think ORU is a lil pricey, I've seen one kit for 17k. ORD has some decent ones for less than 2k.
Whats hard is finding a good axle for cheap. Those Dana 60s don't go cheap.

I did it on my Tahoe witout buying kit, I have a thread on the site about it that you can find with a search. Just use "Solid Axle Swap" as the keyword.
After doing it, there are some things I would do differently a 2nd time around and I would be glad to answer any questions.
