Default Front and back bow ties

I have a 07 Black Z 71 Tahoe and I want to replace the gold bowties on the front and back with a aluminum finish product. My question is whether it is best to remove the front grill to get at the back of the OEM emblem.
Any thoughts??

If you are careful, you can pry the emblem in the grille out with a small flat head screwdriver. Just be careful not to ding up the grille. I removed this one because it was cracked. There are two large clips to the side of the center part. This one came off an 01 Suburban. The 07s might be different.

07s are different. You can replace the front with a new bowtie (all sorts of options). You must gain access to the rear of the grille by removing a few bolts (exact process is explained on lots of posts here), and then the bowtie emblem can be replaced. The rear one, you can remove the "gold" top of the emblem, revealing a chrome finish bowtie underneath it. Easiest way to do that is to use fishing line and a hairdryer to loosen the glue holding it on there. I used a smooth credit card and was able to remove the gold outer bowtie without breaking or cracking it...you're left with a MUCH better looking chrome bowtie!

I can reach inside the front grille and access the two quick nuts and remove my front bowtie without having to remove or loosen bolts. It is still semi-glued on but it easily pulls off once the nutsare removed.
