Has anyone ever heard of the front differential developing a crack leading to complete failure? Tahoe has 130,000 miles but not much off road and the differential just cracked. Anybody ever seen this before?[:-]

 

It all depends on where the crack was. Was the crack in the carrier? If so, the oil will leak out and thus causing the gears to lock and boom goes the front end. With that many miles on the trcuk, who knows how it happened. Could have cracked it offroading over obsticles. Could have cracked it city driving. These vehicles are not designed for offroad use...if you wanna to play, you're gonna pay. Hope this helps.
