fuel gauge vibrates

I have a 99 c1500 chevy suburban with a 350 engine and auto trans. This week the fuel gauge vibrates at a high frequency (not fuel moving around in the fuel tank) . Also when the key is turned from the off to on position (just before engaging the starter) the fuel needle travels way past the full mark and then bounces back to the correct fuel level where it starts vibrating.
I'm not sure whether its related, but yesterday my wife complained that she cranked and cranked but the engine wouldn't start. When I got home from work I rolled it over once and it cranked right up.
I'm gonna get the codes read tomorrow, I was just curious if this was a common problem with a common solution.
Thanks in advance.

crap, I am having the same issue...better not be as the pumps less then 2 yrs old and only has 10,000 miles on it.
So is it fuel pump failure or the sending unit failing?
