Hey guys I have a 2002 Tahoe 5.3 Z71 with the g80
ever since I’ve owned it the locker has not worked. I finally took off the rear differential cover and it was nasty. All coated with black sludge. I cleaned it all up and also verified that the locker is intact. And everything looks like it should function like normal, the weights on the governor function fine and the teeth on the governor are also fine. And the speed lockout also moves freely. However no lockup happens when one wheel spins and the other don’t. Could all of that black sludge be the clutch material that’s worn down? The trucks got 180,000 miles on it btw. Any help work be appreciated. I would just like this to work as I’m going to be lightly off roading with this vehicle.
